*Updated Comparison chart Intune enrollment with Education Devices

Here is the comparison chart for the new Education Devices from HP, Lenovo and Acer.

UPDATED: Lenovo Yoga and Dell Latitude

This should illustrate how long time it takes for a student to setup his PC. On Wipe drive i used WICD, On Intune Enrollment I typed the email and waited for MFA. The actual clean logon without user intervention is much faster. On the new user switch, the device was not prepared with Setup My School PC for true multi user. The time it takes is for Windows to prepare a loaner PC or allow a student to borrow another PC in a 1-1 scenario

Send your Office 365 users to your branded portal

If you have set up Office 365 and want your users to be automatically redirected to your company branded Office 365 logon portal here is what you need to do

1-dns-settings-for-office-365-www-redirect
Go into your DNS settings at your registrar

You may use the following destination for your www-forwarding in order to get to your portal:

  1. https://outlook.office365.com/owa/?realm=haukeberg.no

  2. https://outlook.com/haukeberg.no

Note that I can turn on URL cloaking, which means the user will allways see my domain (epost.haukeberg.no) in the URL header when he navigates the site. There are some benefits and drawbacks to this

If you can not find your WWW-forwarding settings, use a CNAME post instead. Here is what you need:

4-cname-post-for-365
If you can not find WWW-forwarding

The destination is:

  1. Outlook.office365.com

Result is as follows:

2-standard-login-365-no-branding
Standard Office 365 portal
3-custom-branding-office-365-portal
Already branded Office 365 portal

Did I just send that? Recall Mail in Outlook

It can happen, you sendt something. Know that if the user opened the mail, you can not do anything about it. However if your mail has not been read you can recall it.

Anyhow, just try this:

call-back-mail
Ops, should I have sendt that?
mail
Open the mail

recall
Click file and click the “Recall button”

You can recall and replace if needed

Giving Microsoft Classroom to teachers and students

Once you have gotten Microsoft Classroom licenses you need to make sure that licenses are applied correctly to the teachers and students. Microsoft uses the Office 365 licenses to identify if you are a teacher or student. In case you are using school data sync (SDS) then this will be taken care of there.

Here is the right license assignment you need:

Teachers:

  • Microsoft Classroom
  • Office 365 Education for Faculty

larerlisenserStudents:

  • Microsoft Classroom
  • Office 365 Education for Students

Now, log on as a teacher and start making classes.

What Azure Rights Management Tells You!

A colleague of mine, Ilya  sendt out a Azure RMS protected document. Here is what it looks like for a user of Azure RMS when sharing documents.

http://portal.azurerms.com

Observe the insight and control you have over the information, and at a moments notice you can withdraw access to the document.

The Yellow lines are the last names which have been removed for privacy.

Removing user access to Azure RMS documents

Scenario:

You share a Azure RMS protected document with one user lg@haukeberg.com. If you now remove that user and add Samsung@haukeberg.com

-> What happens?

NOTHING.

Each share on the file creates a new instance in Azure RMS, hence if you want to remove user lg@haukeberg.com access you need to revoke access to the document completly.

Note: once you revoke access to a document, all the users will loose access.

Hence if the user lg@haukeberg.com quits and you revoke access to a document which also Samsung@haukberg.com has access to then both loose access.

version protection
Observe the individual shared versions of the file

Workaround would be to always share a document with as few as possible each time.
